Curriculum vitae
Univ.-Ass. Kerstin Schatz, LL.M., studied Business Law at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) from 2017 to 2024, where she completed both the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and the Master in Business Law (LL.M.). During her bachelor studies, she worked full-time in a Viennese law firm in the Banking and Finance team with a focus on banking contract law, consumer protection law, civil law and civil procedure law. Her bachelor's degree focused on tax law.
During her Master's degree in law, she worked briefly in a Viennese tax consultancy firm as a trainee. However, she left this firm to work as a lawyer at the Federal Ministry of Finance. Her main tasks at the Federal Ministry of Finance were legal work in the field of excise duties and environmental taxes, assisting with official audits and working on EU matters for the department (e.g. revising the text of directives and Commission proposals, reporting state aid to the department). As part of her professional activities, she passed the written service examination in tax law with distinction.
She acquired further knowledge in WTO law, international and European tax law, civil procedure law and security administration law as part of her Master's degree.
Since November 2024, Kerstin Schatz has been working as a university assistant (prae doc) at the Institute for European Law, International Law and Comparative Law. Her research focuses on emerging technologies (e.g. artificial intelligence), their European regulation (e.g. market surveillance) and their liability (e.g. product liability law).
