Diploma Exam in International Law IREWI

Examination Process

Each candidate will be examined individually. Each candidate will receive three examination questions (plus some interposing questions). The candidates should have the second volume of the Austrian Public International Law Textbook (Materialienteil des Völkerrechtshandbuchs) or the Codex of Public International Law ready; these materials may only be used upon request. The examination takes 20-30 minutes per candidate.

The Diploma Exam in Public International Law IREWI is taken in English according to the curriculum.

Assessment

The assessment scale and criteria include knowledge and identification of the pertinent legal foundations, an understanding of their practical interplay, precision in applying the legal methodology to concrete cases, comprehension and use of the relevant facts, and level of the legal argumentation. For a positive examination result, familiarity with all relevant examination areas of public international law is an indispensable prerequisite.
