16.03.2017

The Vienna Jessup Team successfully participated in the European Friendly Rounds of the 58th Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition held at the ELTE University in Budapest from 9-11 March 2017.

The team is ranked first out of 14 participating universities and won all four preliminary rounds against the teams from Jordan, Romania, Luxembourg and Portugal. After a challenging final round against New Zealand (University of Auckland) the Austrian team finished as runner-up.

The University of Vienna Team will compete in the White & Case International Rounds in Washington, D.C. which will take place from 9-15 April 2017. Jessup is the world's largest moot court competition, with participants from over 550 law schools in more than 87 countries. The Competition is a simulation of a fictional dispute between countries before the International Court of Justice, the judicial organ of the United Nations. Teams prepare oral and written pleadings arguing both the applicant and respondent positions of the case.

The team is thankful for the generous support of our sponsors, the Austrian Foreign Ministry and the law firms Baker McKenzie and zeiler.partners.
