Konferenz zum 20-jährigen Bestehen der International Organizations Law Review mit dem Titel "The Love for International Organizations"
Am 17. November 2023 organisierten Niels Blokker und Ramses Wessel in enger Zusammenarbeit mit August Reinisch die Konferenz zum 20-jährigen Bestehen der International Organizations Law Review mit dem Titel "The Love for International Organizations". In vier Panels zogen Mitglieder des Redaktionsausschusses der International Organizations Law Review Bilanz darüber, warum sie internationale Organisationen als eigenständiges Gebiet des Völkerrechts erforschen.
Das erste Panel begann mit einem Vortrag von Jean d'Aspremont über "The Love for International Organizations", basierend auf seinem gleichnamigen Artikel. Es folgte ein Vortrag von Kristina Daugirdas zum Thema "Misidentifying the Source of the Love for International Organizations" und Jan Klabbers‘ Präsentation mit dem Titel "Love is Just a Four-Letter Word".
Im zweiten Panel behandelte Jacob Katz Cogan das Thema "The Flexibility of International Organizations", Ian Johnstone sprach über "Informal Intergovernmental Organizations: How Lovable are They?", August Reinisch erörterte die Definitionen und Merkmale internationaler Organisationen in seinem Vortrag " Do I Know What I Love When I Say That I Love International Organizations?" und schließlich hielt Niels Blokker einen Vortrag mit dem Titel "The Love for International Organizations is not so much Logic; it is Experience".
Das dritte Panel begann mit einem Vortrag von Kirsten Schmalenbach zu "Can International Organizations Turn 'Rogue'?", gefolgt von Catherine Brölmann, die zum Thema "For the Love of Structure" sprach. Im Anschluss referierte Gian Luca Burci zu "Patterns of Governance and Institutional Development in International Organizations - Reflections from a Former Practitioner" referierte, und Elisabetta Morlino sprach zu “Studying (and Loving) International Organizations to Understanding Public Power and its Changes”.
Im vierten Panel hielt Namira Negm einen Vortrag über "Distinctively African: The Unique Appeal of the African Union to international Lawyers of African Origin", Anmol Gulecha präsentierte eine Perspektive aus Asien über “Love-Hate Relationship with International Organizations” und Ramses Wessel referierte abschließend zu "Our Love for the EU (But is it an International Organization?)".
